Pumpkin Patch

This was our second year to visit Hall's Pumpkin Patch with Logan.  We had so much fun looking at all of the pumpkins, taking pictures and Logan's favorite, people-watching.

We had such a great time that we went back the next day to go on a hay ride.  I wasn't expecting much but we all had the best time!  I couldn't have imagined a better hay ride... not too many people on the tractor, the weather was comfortably cool and the sun was just starting to set.  We rode over to a line of cows who were anxiously awaiting our arrival.  Not only were the cows friendly but they knew we were there to feed them.  It was so loud with all of the moo-ing!  The cows had long tongues and were drooling everywhere which made Logan belly laugh and scream.  It was quite the sight to see!

State Fair of Texas

Another fun family adventure for the month of October was Logan's first trip to the State Fair of Texas.  We had to let him try some of the delicious fair food so he munched on some turkey, vanilla ice cream, roasted corn and a couple of bites of a Fletcher's corn dog.  My little animal lover checked out all of the adorable animals in the Children's Barnyard, fed some of them and even pet a little pony.  One of our last stops after a long day was at the carousel, which he was fascinated by.  This is by far, the best time I have had at the fair only because we had Logi to share the experience with.

This was Logan's first taste of ice cream.  He wasn't too sure about it at first but quickly realized it was pretty yummy.  The best part was that the ice cream cones were free!
I think he had a little bit of a brain freeze!

He had no fear to reach right in and pet the animals
That is a real pumpkin!

Love his toothy smile

The corn dog was yummy!

Dallas World Aquarium

We finally decided to venture over to the Dallas World Aquarium with Logan before Sins starts back to work.  We went right before closing which worked out great because there was only 2 other families there!  It is so much fun to see things through Logan's eyes and watch his reaction to everything new.  No surprise, he was interested in all the different birds and just as interested in the aquariums.

Logan growled at these little guys

Logan loved watching the turtles and manatees swim right in front of him.  He didn't want to leave this exhibit!

My little family

This was a smaller aquarium with colorful little fish he wanted to talk to.

Chisholm Park

While at a birthday party at the beautiful Chisholm Park we decided to walk over to the pond to feed the ducks some bread, a first for Logan. He was cautiously excited to see the ducks and birds come up close as we fed them.  He has such a fascination with birds!  We also headed over to one of the playgrounds to let Logan swing, which he loved.  Family afternoons like today create magical memories and fill my heart with so much joy.

Southlake Oktoberfest

The first weekend in October had gorgeous weather for Logan's first time at Oktoberfest in Southlake.  We went with my parents which made the day even better since my mom is finally out of the hospital and feeling a bit better.  Traditionally Scarlet runs in the weiner dog races but this year she had to miss out since she has been battling a back injury.  We watched a couple of the dog races, checked out some of the craft booths and then we headed for restaurant row.  Sins and I started with one of our absolute favorites, roasted corn, followed by tator-twisters, bratwursts and finished up with soft serve ice cream.  YUM!  Logan had not experienced the yumminess of roasted corn until today and boy did he love it!  He was squealing for more corn and more of my mom's delicious grilled chicken.  Our finicky little eater has suddenly turned into a bottomless pit!
Today was a perfect fall family outing.  I am looking forward to the rest of the fun festivities coming up in the best month of the entire year, October.

This was his first time to walk around in shoes!

He loved riding in the wagon next to his Hannah-Banana

One Year Check Up

I had been dreading Logan's one year check up ever since it was scheduled.  He was due to have 4 shots, plus blood-work to determine if he was still anaemic.  Fortunately, Sins has always been able to be at each doctor visit so I don't have to be in the room when it comes time for the shots.  I get lightheaded just seeing the needles!  From the moment I set Logan down on the scale to be weighed he started crying like I've never heard him cry before.  He also screamed and cried during the rest of his visit, which absolutely ripped my heart out.  We have just 3 more months before we have to do this all over again!
So here are Logan's one year statistics:  weight - 19.9 pounds (which shockingly puts him in the 10%), length - 30 1/4 inches (50-75%) and head circumference - 47 centimetres (75%).  The best news came just a few days after his visit...He is no longer anaemic.

One Year Pictures

Just a couple of days before his birthday we took Logan to have his one year old pictures taken at Picture People. He was full of adorable smiles when the photographer first started taking pictures but by the end he was so over smiling and looking at the camera.  I think the pictures truly capture Logan's different looks.  When I see pictures of my handsome little guy I can't help but feel an abundance of pride and gratitude for God blessing us with a happy, healthy son.

I love his serious look

He was definitely hamming it up

What a difference a year makes

Logan is One!

I absolutely cannot believe that my baby boy is now one year old!  Our first year with precious Logan seemed to go by in a flash and was filled with so much happiness and wonderful memories.
We decided that we would keep things simple by celebrating Logan's special day at home with our close family.  As we sadly expected, my mom was still in the hospital on his birthday and I couldn't imagine celebrating without her.  The only thing to do was move the party to her hospital room, minus the rest of the family.  It was a great time!  We had snacks, cake and presents galore.  As Logan opened his gifts he seemed to be more interested in the wrapping paper rather than the actual gift (silly boy is completely fascinated by any paper product).  I think his favorite gift was the xylophone that we got him because he loves to make music.
Sins and I stayed up super late the night before to make Logan's smash cake and cake.  Sins made an awesome little soccer ball (of course) for him to smash and I made a cake for everyone else to eat in the shape of a number one.  They were fun to make and best of all, they were made with love.  It would have been so much easier to buy the cakes but I prefer the taste of "home-made" cake, rather than store bought.  Logan was not very interested in his smash cake at first and staying true to his character the faces he made during the first tastes were overly dramatic.  He eventually realized that he really did like the taste and eagerly ate the icing but did so very delicately, without making a mess.

It's not exactly beautiful but it sure was yummy

He quickly figured out how to unwrap his presents

So excited to bang on his xylophone

Studying to see how it works
